Free Bird Linocut

"Free Bird" is a linocut print. In this process the first layer of the design is carved out of linoleum. Color is then applied like a stamp and printed through a press. The following layers are then carved out sequentially into the linoleum to create the final image. This process cannot be reprinted after the following layer is carved. When finished you are left with the final layer carved out and ready to be disposed of. The design was based on an old Portuguese stamp depicting Santa Clause.
